tried add appearances at part level? Using Appearances at Assembly level does not give one enough control over said faces, this is because part level overrides assembly level.

Solidworks Photoview 360 - one part multiplied for many decals

Solidworks Photoview 360 - one part multiplied for many decals

in decal dialogue window, choose "Apply change at assembly component level" to apply one decal to multiple identical parts.
I can select the multiple identical parts as shown below for the same decal. Then I can repeat the same procedure for the same parts in another row for another decals.
In this case, do not use part level as it will apply the same decal to all of the parts in the same name in the assembly.

Opening artwork with Dfont files on PC

Dfont or data fork TrueType is a special type of TrueType font format, specifically developed for Macs running Mac OS X. Some of the system fonts that ship with OS X are dfont fonts. You won't find this file format on any other operating system.

I am sharing a link to an online converter that convert dfont into PC fonts:

http://transfonter.org/ttc-unpack

It is an online tool for extracting TrueType fonts from TrueType and DFONT collections. Converting TTC and DFONT to TTF. I used it to convert a .dfont file successfully into PC font files!

How to select white acrylic sheets

This is a good reference on selection of white acrylic sheets from eplastics.com
(http://www.eplastics.com/ACRY75080-187PM24X96 )

There are 3 whites in the WHITE color line:
2447 - a lighting white
7328 - a sign white for illuminated signs
7508 - an opaque white for signage.

In the white colors, light transmission changes with the thickness of the material. The thicker the white material, the less the light transmission. This is also true in all translucent acrylic sheets (i.e. sign colors). All transparent shades of acrylic (i.e. bronze, gray, etc.) remain the same color and light transmittance regardless of thickness.

Reference chart:
0.125" 2447 white - 50% light transmittance - typically used in overhead lights, xray chart readers
0.125" 7328 white - 31% light transmittance
0.125" 7508 white - 09% light transmittance
0.187" 2447 white - 42% light transmittance
0.187" 7328 white - 23% light transmittance
0.187" 7508 white - 06% light transmittance
0.250" 2447 white - 35% light transmittance - typically used for photog light tables
0.250" 7328 white - 17% light transmittance
0.250" 7508 white - 4% light transmittance
0.375" 2447 white - 27% light transmittance
0.500" 2447 white - 19% light transmittance.

http://www.businesscards.org/design-guide/printing/paper-guide/

For most cases, the thickness of the graphic insert is 12 points.

Another reference can be found at Case Paper's website: http://www.casepaper.com/resources/charts/paper-thickness-caliper/

Solidworks - turn on color mode for output colored drawings

Use this icon to turn on color mode for output colored drawings in PDF format to be tweaked in AI later.

And don't forget to turn it on for regular SW gray scale engineering drawing. Or, oops, it will look like this when it is turned off:

this problem happens in AI because I did not turn off shaded with edge display style in SW. Once I turn to the hidden lined removed display style, it show only line graphics in AI.
